Meet Alan Taylor

Hello!

Thank you for visiting my page. I live in Yarm on Tees, North Yorkshire. Other family members include rough haired Jack Russel Alfie and Irish rescue dog Monty. You can see a colour pencil drawing of Monty on this page.

I am a member of the Association of Animal Artists. This association supports many good charities. These include Bumblebee and Hedgehog conservation and preservation.

My love for art started as a teenager when I initially tried oil painting. I then became interested in photography and loved capturing images of landscapes and rock climbing.

Later I taught digital graphic design for computer games including concept art for characters. I was impressed with my students' drawing skills and imagination. This inspired me to pick up my pencils and develop my graphite drawing skills. This developed into water colour painting, colour pencil drawing and pastel painting.

Artist at Work

I love using the medium of pastels or colour pencils to capture the colours and character of animals. I find inspiration for my subjects from countryside walks both at home and abroad.

I am a member of the Guild Society of Artists (GSA) and gained the AGSA professional qualification. This was awarded for the "wonderful artwork" submitted to the GSA fine art committee and for my artist professionalism. On gaining the AGSA I was invited to interview for the Art and Framing magazine.

One of my commissions was to create a book cover of a magical raven. This was for Deborah Barwick, an established North East author, image shown on this page.
